The Story
About This Pub Crawl
Who wants a normal night out when you could have a paranormal one? Spirits With The Spirits is Flagstaff's 21-and-over haunted pub crawl, and it now runs south of the railroad tracks in the Southside, the neighborhood where the railroad crews, the saloons and the ladies of the evening built this town, and where the stories never left. Two hours, about a mile of sidewalk, three bar stops, and a guide in Southwestern Gothic attire who tells the ghost stories and true crime between rounds while you settle in with a drink.
First round at Mother Road Brewing Company on Mikes Pike. Second round at a rotating Southside stop your guide picks for the night. Last call at Historic Brewing's Barrel + Bottle House on South San Francisco Street, where you are welcome to stay as long as you like once the stories end.
This is not a bar crawl with a spooky theme stapled on. Every story comes from co-founder Susan Johnson's original research, the same historian and author behind Wicked Flagstaff, Haunted Flagstaff and The Walkup Family Murders. The railroad that reached Flagstaff in 1882, the working women who out-negotiated the town council on its first business taxes, Ordinance Ten of 1895, and the madam whose 1916 death was staged to look like something it was not. The history is real. The haunted locations are real. The drinks are just a bonus.
Public Night or Private Crawl
Most of the year the crawl books as a private night for one group: your own guide, your own people, a date you pick, quoted per group from $400. A few times a year we open a night to the public so couples and smaller parties can join.
- Friday, October 30, 2026, 6 to 8 PM. Public tickets, $55 per person, 16 seats in total, 21+ with valid ID. The Book Now button opens the TripWorks calendar for that night; pick your seats and you are in.

Why the Southside
Downtown Flagstaff kept its front windows clean. The Southside did the work. When the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad arrived on August 1, 1882, the saloons, boarding houses and gambling rooms that served the crews and mill hands went up south of the tracks, and for decades the blocks around Mikes Pike, South San Francisco Street and South Beaver Street ran as the town's red-light district. Reformers answered with Ordinance Ten in 1895. The district carried on for another two decades, and some of its residents, by local account, never left.
Today the same blocks hold breweries, taprooms and patios, which is exactly why a pub crawl belongs here. Mikes Pike itself was Flagstaff's first main street and an early alignment of Route 66, named for the Riordan brothers whose lumber mill drove the town. You will hear the rest on the sidewalk.

- The crawl starts at Mother Road Brewing Company, 7 S Mikes Pike, Flagstaff, AZ 86001, just south of the railroad tracks. Meet your guide outside the front door about 15 minutes before start time and look for Southwestern Gothic attire. There is metered and free street parking nearby, and the Downtown Connection Center is a short walk for public transit.
- The crawl ends at Historic Brewing's Barrel + Bottle House, 110 S San Francisco St, a short walk back to where you started.
- Drinks are not included in the ticket price. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic options are available at every stop, so this is not only for drinkers.
- All guests must be 21 or older and bring a valid driver's license or ID to enter the bars.
- Bar stops may change based on availability. The rotating second stop is your guide's call for the night.
- All participants on the reservation must sign the waiver before the tour. The link comes with your booking confirmation.
- Wear comfortable shoes. The route covers about 1 mile (1.6 km) over two hours, with a good share of that time sitting down.
- Flagstaff sits at 7,000 feet (2,100 meters). Bring a water bottle, and remember that altitude and alcohol team up faster than you expect.
- Flagstaff weather changes fast and late October nights are cold. Check the forecast for your tour end time and dress to your comfort. Locals love layers.
- Tips are never mandatory, but gravely appreciated by our local guides.

What To Expect
Mother Road Brewing Company
First round. Mother Road has brewed on Mikes Pike since 2011 inside a 1920s-era laundry building, a few steps from the tracks that started everything. Your guide sets the scene here: the railroad, the boomtown, and why the respectable side of town preferred not to look south.
A Rotating Southside Stop
Second round, your guide's pick for the night. The Southside has more taprooms and patios than one crawl can hold, so the middle stop moves. What does not move is the story: the working women who out-negotiated the town council, the ordinance that tried to end the trade, and the trade that carried on anyway.
Historic Brewing's Barrel + Bottle House
Last call. Historic opened its Southside taproom and cocktail lounge on South San Francisco Street in 2015, in a building that, by local account, has lived several earlier lives. A few of our guides were once let into the basement with recorders. What they came back with is the story we save for the end of the night, and you are welcome to stay for another round after it.
