Haunted Houses in Flagstaff: What Actually Exists in 2026

Straight answer first: Flagstaff does not have a permanent commercial haunted house. No multi-night walk-through haunt, no haunted corn maze, no scream park. What the town has instead is a one-night nonprofit haunt, a haunted trail on the mountain, after-dark tours of two historic landmarks, a haunted train an hour west, and a built haunted house ninety minutes south. This page lists all of it for Halloween 2026, with dates, prices and the listing we checked for each one.

Last updated October 20, 2026. Dated lines come off the list as their night passes. Where an organizer has not posted 2026 details yet, we say so and give the most recent year's pattern instead of guessing. The nightly walk Freaky Foot Tours has run downtown since 2015 is at the end; it is a ghost tour, not a haunted house, and the difference is explained there.

The closest thing to a haunted house downtown is a ghost tour

A haunted house is built to make you jump. A ghost tour is built to make you look at a building you have walked past a hundred times and never see it the same way again. The Downtown Flagstaff Haunted History Tour leaves nightly at 7 PM from Wheeler Park, with a second 8 PM walk on Fridays and Saturdays, 75 minutes and one mile on foot through the Weatherford, the Monte Vista and the alleys between them, every story from co-founder Susan Johnson's research. Adults from $29; kids come; nobody grabs you. Readers of the Arizona Daily Sun have voted it Best of Flag for guided tours three years running.

If you want it darker, Mountain Town of Madness is the 18-and-over version, Friday and Saturday nights at 9 PM, same streets, the stories we leave out of the family walk. For a private group, the Citizens Cemetery tour and the paranormal investigation run on your date.

    Questions people ask

Is there a haunted house in Flagstaff?

Not a permanent one. As of October 2026 Flagstaff has no commercial haunted house or haunted corn maze. The Haunted Ice House is a one-night nonprofit haunt when it runs, Snowbowl's Halloween Bash has an outdoor haunted trail on October 30, and Riordan Mansion runs after-dark tours October 28 to 30. The nearest built, multi-night haunted house is in Prescott Valley.

What is the scariest thing to do in Flagstaff at Halloween?

For jump scares, the Haunted Ice House on the night it runs, or the drive to The Asylum in Prescott Valley. For stories that stay with you, the 18-and-over Mountain Town of Madness tour on a Friday or Saturday at 9 PM. Riordan Mansion's after-dark tours sit in between and sell out first.

Is the Flagstaff ghost tour a haunted house?

No. It is a guided walk through downtown with documented stories told where they happened. There are no actors, no props and nobody touches you, which is why families and first-timers take it and why it runs every night of the year, not just October.

What is there to do in Flagstaff on Halloween night 2026?

Saturday, October 31: the downtown trick-or-treat trail from 4 to 7 PM, the ghost tour at 7 PM and 8 PM from Wheeler Park, The Rocking Dead at the Orpheum at 8 PM, Dirty Birdies' bash from 9 PM, and the 18-and-over tour at 9 PM. The Haunted Ice House is the question mark until Culture Connection posts its night.
