Halloween 2026 is Saturday, October 31. Howl-O-Ween is the Saturday before, on October 24.
The Event
Howl-O-Ween returns to downtown Flagstaff on Saturday, October 24, 2026, for its second year. Created and hosted by Freaky Foot Tours, it brings together a pet block party, a parade on a closed block of Aspen Avenue, and a costume contest with four categories. Watching is free and always will be.
Freaky Foot Tours has brought Flagstaff's strange, spirited stories to life since 2015. We created Howl-O-Ween to bring that same love of Halloween, local character, and community into the heart of downtown while supporting High Country Humane.
100% of profits benefit High Country Humane.
Last Year
The first Howl-O-Ween drew more than 100 costumed pets to Heritage Square in October 2025 and ran without a single safety incident, corgi in a hot dog suit included.
More than 1,000 attendees came out. Two same-day pet adoptions happened at the event.

Costume ideas
Keep it comfortable and safe. Make sure your pet can walk, see, hear, and breathe easily, and remember that late October in Flagstaff is cold once the sun drops behind the peaks.
New for 2026
This year the square makes room for a pet ofrenda, a place to remember the animals who walked with us before. Send a photo and a few lines. It sits alongside the costumes and the noise as a quieter corner of the afternoon.

The Crew
Want a booth at Heritage Square, or want to help run the day? Vendor setup is 2 to 3 PM and teardown is 7 to 8 PM. We send booth details and pricing by email. Volunteers leave their own pets at home so they can run the event, and they end up closer to every costumed guest that shows up.
